Tutorial 10.F - Hot Keys - Resetting AutoCAD Shift Key

The only known Hot Key conflict is in the newer AutoCAD's that by default use the SHIFT key as its own shortcut-key, usually for toggling Ortho mode for the duration of SHIFT key is pressed. If SHIFT key is used as a shortcut-key in AUtoCAD, it conflicts with HydrauliCAD in Quick-Build Mode for "Copy Properties of Existing Object".

To use this extremely handy process, it is recommended to select another shortcut-key for toggling AutoCAD Orthogonal mode. To do that, you will open "Customize User Interface" dialog. This can be done by entering the command "_CUI" in command window, or from menu select TOOLS -> Customize -> Interface. Both methods open the following dialog:

In upper left hand side pane, select "Keyboard Shortcuts",
then in right pane, find "Toggle Orthogonal Mode". If another key is assigned to that function, like what it is in the below picture, SHIFT shortcut can be removed from list, and if it's the only key for toggling Ortho mode, assign another key to that function in the lower right-hand pane.
