Tutorial 13.5 - Scenarios: A large intensive scenario example

HydrauliCAD's Scenarios "ALL the Way"

Example of a Complex scenario with "Varying Demands.

Tank Level controls Pump & Valve On & Off" running in 2 separate scenarios within it.

(With a "What IF" Pipe Size + Specification change thrown in for the last Time Step)

Some use term "alternatives" but HydrauliCADs' Scenario engine structure is far more flexible & encompassing than the more limited "alternative" structure, allowing the modeler to "Play What IF" with the epanet math engine to degrees not possible with any other software that we have examined to date

TOP 1/2 Viewable Area of the Scenario Palette
(view shows lines 1 - 12, of 21)

(line 1) - This Scenario also is running an independent Scenario to Close a valve based on Tank Level
+ (line 2) - it is also running an independent Scenario to Turn a Pump On or Off based based on Tank Level
+ (lines 3&4) - At start of Time Step 3, it sets Demands for selected Outlet Node(s) to an Absolute value of 250 gpm
+ (lines 5&6) - At start of Time Step 5, it resets the Outlet Node Demand(s) to it's original value
+ (lines 7&8) - At start of Time Step 10, it multiplies the current values of the selected Outlet Nodes X 1.55
+ (lines 9&10) - Reset those values back to their original settings.

Bottom 1/2 Viewable Area of the Scenario Palette
(view shows lines 11 - 21)

+ (lines 11&12) - At start of Time Step12, it multiplies Demands for selected Outlet Node(s) X 1.1
+ (lines 13&14) - At start of Time Step 15, it sets the selected Outlet Node Demand(s) to the absolute value of 215 gpm

Similar for (lines
15-18), Then,

+ (lines 19-21) - At start of Time Step 20, it performs 2 independent operations a & b:
a - (line 20) - Resets Demand Value for the selected Outlet(s) to the Original Value X 1.3

b - (line 21) - Sets, for selected pipes, Specification to "PVC" ASTM-2241 SDR42 and Size to 10"
