Tutorial 8B.2 - Saving Temporary Selection Sets

General Overview:
Selection Sets can be collected:
1. Manually, 2. via Custom AutoCAD Quick Select, 3. via HydrauliCAD Quick Select (See Folder directly above for methods to Create Selection Sets) or 4. From an Existing Saved Selection Set (Temporary or Permanent).

All Selection Sets, no matter how they are collected, can be saved in the Selection Set Form, recalled later, then Edited, Appended to, or Selected from, using any of the above methods.

There are 3 distinct Types of Selection Sets:
1. "Temporary Sets" remain only as long as the Current AutoCAD Session remains.
2. "Permanent Sets". Once the drawing is saved, they remain a permanent part of the drawing and can be recalled at any time in the future.
3. "Cycle Sets", Selections (Saved Sets or merely Selected), when placed into "Trace" allow one to Cycle through its contents one by one, and View and / or Edit each individual Object.

If HydrauliCAD Palette is not showing:
Go to: Main AutoCAD Menu > HydrauliCAD > "Show HydrauliCAD Palette" > "Selection Sets Tab"

Saving a New "Temporary / Session" Selection Set:

1. Open the "Selection Set Tab" on the HydrauliCAD Palette.

Temporary Sets are in the LOWER Section of the Form.

2. Select a Set in the drawing by any of the 4 available methods (above):

3. Name it in one of the "Selection Set #s 1-5". (You can use a blank name, or rename an existing name to replace it with the new set).

4. Click "Save Temporary" Button to save it.

Selecting a Saved "Session" Set:

To Select this or any Temporary Saved Set in the drawing,

1. Click "Select this Set" Button at any time during the session for any of the Temporary Sets in the Bottom Section of the Form.

2. Then > move Cursor from Palette Form into Drawing Area to display the set.

NOTE 1: At any time, Saved Sets can be recalled later, then Edited, Appended to, or Selected from, using any of the above 4 selection methods. (See Save Sets in this Section of the User guide or use the links below).

NOTE 2: You can also Cycle through and View and or Edit any Saved Sets "by Individual Pipe" using our "Cycle through selection" method. Select the Set, Save it to Trace and Cycle through the Properties Palette using the Main ToolBar Icons . (See Cycle through Sets in this Section of the User guide or use the links below).
