| Tutorial 11B.1 - Error Reports - HydrauliCAD Report Form |
|
Type 1. Errors: "Mandatory Property is missing or invalid". When there is a missing or invalid property within an Object or Objects, so long as the Network is solvable, the Report Form will show the IDs of the offending Objects. To locate
the Object the easy way, highlight it on the list (as in example below),
and click on "Select Object" Button. This will Select the Object such as the pipe shown in example. Then, you can edit the Object in the AutoCAD Properties Palette. Tip: If network is not otherwise solvable, for example if there are disconnected Objects, first make certain that this is corrected such that Epa can then report the defective object properties. |

Type 2. Errors: Negative Pressures Encountered

Type
3. Errors: Time Step Analysis Runs Out of Water Before Completion Example shows a Dynamic Run that succeeded for 5 hours and 12 minutes, but where water was not replaced fast enough to prevent negative pressures and the operating conditions for the network caused failure in Step 5. at 5:13 into the run.
While Objects reaching negative pressures are reported and can be located as in "Type 1. Errors", in this case the problem is not the Objects, rather it is that the system literally runs out of water. The solution in this case would be to add further source of replenishment, often via a Scenario to turn on a pump or valve at a specified pressure for example. |
|
Type 4. Errors: Errors caused by disconnected Objects are not shown in this EPA information because Epanet stops upon encountering an object not connected to a valid source. We are planning to address this issue in the next major update, likely adding more sophistication to Network Check so that it will spot the offending Objects. |
|
Handy TIP: When HydrauliCAD Palette is minimized, one can open the other 3 Sections by RightClicking on the "compressed" TAB SELECT AREA (lower right just above where the cursor is shown in picture below), to display a Menu. Then Select the desired Form from the menu.
